cute airi

Pay attention please.

Now this may be shocking to long-time readers, but the following post is not actually about cute girls doing cute things. Okay, that’s only a half-truth, but this show is so much more than its admittedly adorable af cast. Before we get started, let me first preface this by stating that I have not, in fact, reverted back to being 12 and thinking quotes from dead people will improve everything I write. They do all tie into the central theme of E R A S E D and sums it up in such a succinct way that I hope y’all will forgive me this indiscretion. In any case, onwards and upwards.

I KNOW WHEN THAT HOTLINE BLING

Too bad his manifest destination included hating Muslims

The last time I posted, this man was still the leader of our glorious nation.

That can only mean one thing:

CHUNLIKICKED.ME IS BACK IN BUSINESS (not really)!

I honestly feel like I am only motivated to write these reviews/modern art pieces due to life-changing events.

My last review, posted a year and a half ago, was the result of re-encountering a fantasy series from my youth. The book series had a cute girl.

This review is prompted by me taking five minutes to think of a synonym for “improve” while writing my annual performance review for work. There were no cute girls involved.

As for the anime? It’s Eureka Seven. Cute girls definitely involved.

Book Review #1 – Nostalgia Overload Edition

YOU FOOLS THIS ISN’T EVEN AN ANIME REVIEW

Yeah, I know this blog is supposed to be reviewing shows about cute girls doing cute things, but watching the same old shit being rehashed over and over again becomes tedious very, very quickly. Hell, the last two shows I watched both contained cute girls and demons. Silly Elevens, so lacking in creativity (although, Noragami was a pretty decent show until the last few episodes; Hiyori best girl etc.). But anyway, I’m sure my loyal readers (all three of you) are wondering why I’m doing a book review, of all things. Aren’t books for nerds or something?!? Actually it’s mostly because I’ve developed weekend insomnia and can’t sleep before 5am. And I’m sure you’re all very kinninarimasu about which book I am reviewing.

Kyoukai no Kanata 02 – So dark I can barely see

We get the point, Akihito.

We get the point, Akihito.

Two episodes into this show, and while it’s still about a fetish for meganekkos, the show’s also gotten quite a bit darker (both in atmosphere and tint). Whoever edited the Wikipedia article describing this show as a “dark fantasy” is obviously a psychic. Or they just read the source material, that’s a likely possibility as well.

White Album 2 01- While My Gitah Gently Weeps

Actually it's a show about performing in front of tadpoles.

Actually it’s a show about performing in front of tadpoles.

I watched WA1 (starring Hirano Aya as one of the LIs prior to her sexy scandal) when it came out in 2009, and it was a piece of shit. The main character possibly took some sort of inspiration from John Lennon; he formed the antithesis to most male harem leads, making it his life goal to sleep with as many females as possible, morals be damned. The show was so bad that I dropped it after he inexplicably seduced the fourth woman, and I didn’t think anything of the matter.

Then 2013 rolled around, and it was announced that WA2 would be getting an anime adaptation. No big deal, you say. Well, WA2 is actually one of the highest rated visual novels in the history of ever (on the VN version of imdb, anyway). Of course, the Japanese never made a decent video game that didn’t involve trapping animals in tiny balls, but the fact that this game managed to get an adaptation did pique my interest a teeny tiny bit. So, here we are.

Kyoukai no Kanata 01 – Fetishists please form an orderly line

I like glasses too.

The premise of this entire show.

“I really hate meganekkos (tl note: meganekkos means glasses-wearing girl)”, said no one ever in the history of the world. And that is what this show is about. Girls wearing glasses. The demon-slaying and school life segments are merely a sideshow. After the gloriousness of Hyouka, Kyoani embarked on a shameful journey consisting of chuunis and homoerotic swimmers. But that’s all in the past. Get ready for… Hyouka Part 2: Glasses-wearing Demon Hunters.

Psycho-Pass 01 – Japanese Cyberpunk with plot?!?

Now with Psycho-Font.

You know a show is something special when it brings yours truly out from a five month hiatus to post something.

Psycho-Pass is, as the title says, a cyberpunk anime. Now, the Japanese do a lot of things well. Tentacle porn, cherry blossoms, and school uniforms are some of these things. Cyberpunk happens to be another one of these things. However, just how well Psycho-Pass will measure up against classics like GiTS or Akira remains to be seen.

Jormungand 04 – Classical music appreciation

Here, Valmet’s gigantic thighs for your viewing pleasure should you choose not to read this review.

This show never ceases to surprise me. After two straight weeks of crap we finally get an episode that’s…actually somewhat intriguing! Well, it’s still not exactly good, either. But it’s an improvement! And incremental improvements will eventually lead to perfection, right? At least, that’s how it ought to work.

Tasogare Otome x Amnesia 04 – Swimsuits? Swimsuits!

And panties! Somehow I pegged Yuuko as the dark lacy undergarments type...

When this series first started airing, I wondered to myself when the first swimsuit episode would appear. After all, there is a law in Japan that states: any show containing more than two female characters must have at least one beach and/or swimsuit episode. Didn’t take ’em to show some ghost titties in a bikini. Now Sankarea, on the other hand…
